Situated amongst the trees, the home is a tropical refuge in a sleepy corner of the Big Island. Prioritizing openness and continuity, each person in the home feels connected through the full length covered porch and lofted living area.
A simple material palette was used to highlight the natural beauty of the site. Reclaimed wood siding and neutral clay plaster are paired with exposed stained wooden structural beams. The roof is tilted, allowing residents to enjoy the beautiful landscape while still shading the living areas. This combination makes the home a very comfortable and relaxing place to be.
