Piko Workshop is residential design practice. Our work explores the intersection between indigenous philosophy, vernacular architecture and material expression.

We allow each project to reveal itself by probing the heritage of the surrounding landscape and culture. Our intent is to utilize traditional ecological knowledge to help our structures blend into a place, creating a symbiosis with its environment.

Living house

In the Malay Archipelago, there is a widely shared concept of an intangible and mysterious vital force which suffuses and animates the universe. This formless and constantly creative energy is pervasive and affects both organic and inorganic matter, it is our ‘essence’ or ‘spirit’. Everything shares in this cosmic energy, whether it be plants, animals, humans, textiles, or structures.
